At The Heart Clinic, patients can move from initial assessment and diagnostic testing through to advanced cardiac imaging, further investigation, intervention and ongoing care where required.
Dr Patrick Owens remains directly involved throughout the clinical pathway, helping provide continuity from initial assessment through to treatment and follow-up.
Specialist assessment for symptoms and concerns including chest discomfort, breathlessness, palpitations, abnormal heart rhythms, raised blood pressure and cardiovascular risk.
A comprehensive range of cardiac investigations carried out locally in Waterford, including ECG, echocardiography, cardiac rhythm monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and exercise testing.
Where further investigation is required, established diagnostic links provide access to CT coronary angiography at Mater Private Cork, Beacon Hospital and Blackrock Clinic in Dublin, together with specialist cardiac MRI at Blackrock Clinic.
This extends the diagnostic pathway beyond the investigations carried out within The Heart Clinic itself.
For patients requiring further investigation or treatment, The Heart Clinic provides access to a connected interventional pathway in collaboration with UPMC Whitfield Hospital.
This includes coronary angiography, angioplasty and stenting where clinically appropriate, together with other cardiac procedures and device therapies.
Specialist cardiovascular assessment for people concerned about their heart health, cardiovascular risk, exercise or difficult-to-control high blood pressure.
The Heart Clinic is owned and managed by Dr Patrick Owens, Consultant Cardiologist, who remains directly involved in patient assessment, investigation, clinical decision-making and ongoing care.
A wide range of cardiac investigations is available at the Williamstown Centre in Waterford.
Where additional imaging is required, established relationships provide access to specialist CT coronary angiography and cardiac MRI services in Cork and Dublin.
Patients with coronary artery disease can progress from assessment and diagnosis to invasive investigation and intervention through The Heart Clinic’s collaboration with UPMC Whitfield Hospital.
Where more specialised intervention or cardiac surgery is required, patients can be referred onwards through established relationships with specialist cardiac and cardiothoracic teams.
